Montana Contractors' Association Trade Awareness Grant

Developing a skilled, reliable workforce to build Montana is a priority of the Montana Contractors’ Association Education Foundation. As our valued members struggle to fill their open positions to build Montana’s public infrastructure and commercial facilities, we are looking to you — Montana’s middle and high school industrial arts instructors — to help us meet this need. It is by working together that we will be able to raise awareness among your students of careers in construction, and develop their skills so they are prepared to enter the workforce after high school or pursue postsecondary education related to the trades.

What are MCA Construction Trade Awareness Grants?

The MCA will distribute $1,000 mini grants to help industrial arts instructors at Montana middle and high schools fund events or projects that bring attention in your school and community to careers in construction. We’re going to leave it to your imagination to shape an event or activity that accomplishes this goal, whether it’s a career day, field trip, construction math course, etc. We’re looking forward to hearing your ideas. A few items to think about:

  • Proposals that involve a partnership with an MCA member company will get special attention.
  • Events/activities that take place during Construction Week 2020 (Oct. 5-9) will get extra points.
  • We want to spread the word about careers in construction far and wide, so the more people you touch through your project, the better.

The deadline for MCA Construction Trade Awareness Grant applications is Friday, April 17, 2020. Members of the MCA Education Foundation Board of Directors will review the applications and select our award recipients before the end of the 2019/20 school year. Award recipients will be required to complete a follow-up survey after their event in order to be eligible to apply for funds again in the future.
